It is never too early to start making a difference in the community, and RotaKids gives those aged 7-12 the chance to do just that. RotaKids enjoy developing the ability and confidence to take up their place in society as responsible, successful, effective citizens both now and in the future. They have fun developing teamwork skills and making good friends.
As citizenship is part of the school curriculum this is an opportunity for Rotary to support and expand the work already happening in school. The decisions made in the club always involve the all the RotaKids.
There are plans for three RotaKids clubs, the first two are already established in Stow and at Kitebrook (where there are two groups). Our Rissingtons group is in the formation stage at The Rissington School.
Since the Clubs started during the last school year, the RotaKids have really made a difference. Bake sales, tombolas and collections at special days such as Harvest Festival and Easter, raised money for their chosen charities. They planted purple crocus corms at the entrance to the schools in support of Rotary’s polio eradication initiative Purple for Polio. We are confident there will be many more imaginative ideas for taking action to support those in need. For these groups of young leaders, the sky is the limit!
